Don't Invite Dracula to Dinner - A Poem
~Updated September 19, 2018~
I love Halloween, and all the fun, creepy stuff that goes along with it! Ever since I was a little girl, I have always gotten excited by Halloween and all it entails! First, you get to dress up and be anyone (or anyTHING) you want! Then, you get to go trick or treating, and collect as much candy as you can! That is the fun part of October 31st, but I also love the days building up to it! The decorations that people put up around their homes, the stories and characters that make us all just a little bit afraid to turn off the lights, and just the general excitement that builds as we all wait for that one night of holiday fun!
I tend to lean towards loving the cute, whimsical side of Halloween. I'm such a big kid at heart! LOL So, I hope you enjoy this original poem I wrote about Dracula!
Don't Invite Dracula to Dinner
a poem
I thought "How exciting"
When he RSVP'd,
For the dinner party
I'd thrown together with great speed.
How could I have known
I'd be quite so bereft?
Cause when it was all over
Only he was left.
Please heed my word
Or you'll be so much thinner,
When making your list
Don't invite Dracula to dinner!
He seems great at first
Even digs out his best suit,
He'll comb his hair and brush his fangs
Without a mirror to dispute.
He starts out cool and charming
By kissing ladies hands,
But before long it's plain to see
He hasn't many fans.
Take my advice dear friend
If hoping for a winner,
Leave that last plate empty
Don't ask Dracula to dinner!
It's not that I'm against political impressions
He really does a great George Bush,
But by the time he'd finished
Three guests were but mush.
It's not that I allowed it
I yelled "I must protest!",
But he'd only just begun his feast
And headed for the rest.
Perhaps they all deserved it
Not one is not a sinner,
But unless you're out for justice
Don't invite Dracula to dinner!
I wrang my hands and cried
"My friends are in a hovel",
Then Dracula said "Don't worry my dear,
I'll go grab the shovel!"
He was quite apologetic
He seemed genuinely distressed,
But somehow I just don't think
Their spouses will be impressed.
So unless you like explaining
Especially if you're a beginner,
Do this one little thing
And don't invite Dracula to dinner!
